Gamelan
Gamelan refers to an ensemble of musical instruments that originate from Indonesia. Arcinda specializes in gamelan from the island of Java, otherwise known as Javanese gamelan. Differing from Balinese gamelan, Javanese gamelan originates from the islands of Java, consisting of these instruments/roles:
- Bonang is an instrument that consists of small pots, and acts as a leading/guiding instrument for the entire gamelan ensemble
- Kendang (Drummer) uses drums to lead/conduct the ensemble
- Gong keeps track of music cycles and provides a bass line to the ensemble
- Saron is a zylophone that represents a sub-melody that is accompanied by other sarons via interlocking, demung, and peking
- Gender is a metallophone that has more notes than a saron, and is played with two small mallets
